One day I found myself teaching the different parts of a song to a small group of people. It worked out quite well and I thought to myself – I can do this! So I started an a cappella singing group. I wanted it to be open to everyone so decided to teach by ear and to make it a place to relax and enjoy ourselves without the pressure of having to perform. We meet every Thursday at Smailholm Village Hall.
Recently I was asked if I would lead a Protest Songs group. This had been inspired by Edinburgh’s Protest in Harmony. We meet once a month at Newstead Village Hall. We think we might be called Just Singing but we are not quite sure yet.
My next singing project is to start a performing a cappella group. This will begin rehearsing very soon.
